Skiing at Loon Mountain
Loon Mountain Resort (Exit 32 off I-93, 60 Loon Mountain Rd; (603) 745-8111) is the centerpiece of a Lincoln, NH winter — one of New Hampshire’s largest and most popular ski areas, set right on the Kancamagus Highway along the Pemigewasset River. It’s just minutes from every Hibernation Station rental, so you can be first in the lift line and back in the hot tub by afternoon.
The Terrain
Loon offers 2,100 vertical feet of skiing and riding across 370 acres and three peaks, with 61 trails, eight tree-skiing glades, and a full progression of award-winning terrain parks including a superpipe. That mix makes it genuinely something for everyone — wide, gentle beginner runs and a friendly ski-and-ride school at the base, long blue cruisers in the middle, and steeper black terrain and glades up top.
The Gondola
Loon’s scenic gondola skyride — the longest in New Hampshire — carries you high above the trees toward the summit. It’s a fun ride even on a rest day, with big views over the White Mountain National Forest.

Getting There & the Free Ski Shuttle
Loon sits just off Exit 32 from I-93, a short drive from all of our properties. In winter, guests can ride the free ski shuttle that connects the resort area to the mountain — leave the car parked and skip the lot altogether on busy powder days.

About eight miles north in Franconia Notch, Cannon Mountain (260 Tramway Dr, Franconia; (603) 823-8800) is the highest ski-area summit in New Hampshire (4,080 feet) — a storied, no-frills mountain with classic New England terrain and views straight down the notch.
When to Go
Loon’s season typically runs from late fall into spring, with the deepest base and the most open terrain in the heart of winter. Conditions, hours, and lift-ticket prices change year to year, so check the resort’s official snow report before your trip — and book lodging early for holiday weeks and school vacations, which fill fast.
